Clinical Significance Toxoplasmosis is caused by infection by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Approximately 23% of the population carry the parasite but remain healthy while not immunocompromised. Transmission from a pregnant woman to her fetus can cause serious disease. A high Antibody IgG and Antibody IgM together support infection within the previously three months. A high Antibody IgG with a low-to-medium Antibody IgM together support infection within three to six months.
