Methodology Spectroscopy

Clinical Significance Opiates are detected by EMIT® and individual drugs are confirmed (codeine, morphine). Codeine metabolizes to morphine. Hydrocodone metabolizes to hydromorphone. All four drugs are controlled drugs. Morphine may also be present from heroin and poppy seed ingestion. Presence of drug in the urine indicates prior exposure to the drug.
